Tickenham SS Quiricus and Julietta

A fascinating church which retains much of its earlier fabric. The nave and chancel with its plain chancel arch could be as early as the 11th century. The 13th-century arcades cut through the nave walls for the later aisles are similarly austere.

Delightful 13th-century porch. Note rare 14th -century glass in the Lady Chapel. The unusual dedication is to a 4th-century martyred mother and child.

ST 456 714, on the Causeway S of B3130 on hill slope overlooking Tickenham Moor.
