Stoke sub Hamdon United Reformed Church

An essay in Gothic by R C Bennett opened for the Congregationalists on 6 September 1866. Now that the church he designed in his home town of Weymouth has been so dreadfully mutilated, this must be one of the best surviving examples of his work.

Within is the memorial to Richard Southcombe, owner of a local glove-making factory and essentially the organiser and main financial supporter of the church at its foundation.

ST 472 175, on North Street in West Stoke signposted S of A303.
