Pilton St John Baptist

A fine church with clerestories to both nave and chancel but only a north nave aisle. Rather restored especially the Norman S door and the late 12th-century nave arcade. The building was extensively remodelled in the late 15th and early 16th centuries.

Original roofs to nave and aisle, 16th-century parclose screen and cope with the usual angels.

ST 587 408, signposted SE of A361 in a stunning position on the hillside below.
