Pawlett St. John Baptist

Not remarkable in its architecture except for its magnificent 11th-century S doorway decorated with animal and bird heads, but full of interest. The box pews are of 1728 and the pulpit, font cover, communion rails and table are 17th-century.

The rood screen has been reset to the E but is 15th century. The chancel has a 1779 plasterwork ceiling and early 19th-century retable. There are also fragments of 17th-century wall-painting.
