Othery St Michael

An aisless cruciform church with imposing 16th-century central tower. The chancel and transepts have ben rather restored.

Series of 16th-century poppyheaded benchends echoed by 19th-century versions. The magnificent cope from Glastonbury Abbey which had been reworked as an altar piece can be seen in almost all its former glory at the Abbey Museum in Glastonbury.

ST 381 316, in North Lane at the high point of the 'island'.
