Marston Magna St Mary

A complex church rather scraped inside. The N chapel has more charm, closed off at the W end with a screen made from 15th-century fragments, and with wall paintings of the martyrdom of St.Thomas a Becket, of St. Paul and another figure.

The Norman chancel has been substantially rebuilt in the 13th century but examination of its walls shows it is more complicated than that. Two tiny windows above the chancel arch may be Saxon.

ST 592 223, stands on S side of A357 on S edge of the village.
