Chedzoy St Mary

Evocative location overlooking the moors. The church played its part in the terrible Battle of Sedgemoor fought nearby in 1685. The chancel and nave arcades are 13th century but the church was much altered and enlarged later.

The tower is 16th century in date. Interesting series of benchends of the time of Queen Mary.

ST 340 377, on the high point of the 'island' of Chedzoy signposted SE of A 39 5km E of Bridgwater.
