Brent Knoll St Michael

A spacious church in the Perpendicular style with a grand W tower. The S doorway is Norman; the S transept 14th century. The monument to John Somerset, who died in 1663 and who is looking extremely pompous, and his two wives is impressive.

The glory of the church is the series of poppy-headed benchends which include the evangelists and scenes from the tale of Reynard the Fox.

ST 335 507, on minor roads signposted W of A38.
