Bishops Lydeard St. Mary the Virgin

A proud church in the Perpendicular style. The W tower is magnificent and the interior is spacious but rather dark. Ninian Comper's refitting of the chancel in the 1920s has a striking rood (crucifixion) above the screen. The original cellure is above.

The late 15th-century bench ends are well worth seeing - note the ship and the windmill.

The churchyard has two late medieval crosses; one preserving its elaborately carved head.
